Sciton’s ProFractional laser treatment is a cutting-edge resurfacing method that aims to improve the overall quality of the skin. ProFractional consists of targeted treatments that can effectively address issues such as wrinkles, acne scars, textural problems, and other concerns. A highly skilled ProFractional practitioner will have the experience to curate a treatment plan that thoroughly addresses their patients’ individual concerns.

How do ProFractional laser treatments work?

ProFractional laser treatments emit highly focused laser energy directly into the targeted areas of the skin, leaving vital portions of the skin intact. This process triggers natural collagen production, eliciting fantastic results in a short period of time. Unlike other laser treatments that remove the entire layer of skin from the treatment area, ProFractional laser treatments create channels in the skin that are more narrow in diameter.

What are the benefits of ProFractional laser treatments?

In comparison with other skin treatments, ProFractional is highly revered for its remarkably low risk of side effects such as pigment loss, infection, or scarring. Profractional laser treatments are an effective way to both address displeasing skin conditions and improve the skin’s overall tone, texture, and appearance.

Beyond these advantages, patients choose ProFractional for the following reasons:

  • A non-surgical procedure
  • A quick treatment that can be carried out in less than an hour
  • Little downtime, meaning that patients can get back to their daily activities faster
  • Long-lasting results that show up over a course of a few months and last for up to a year
  • An improvement in skin texture and tone
  • Tighter skin
  • Can be performed on various areas of the body, such as on the face, neck, arms, legs, back, chest, and abdomen
  • Can achieve incredible results both on its own and when combined with other treatments
  • Rejuvenated skin with increased elasticity
  • Although there is some minor light sensitivity and skin peeling, the recovery process is considerably fast
  • A topical anesthetic is applied to the treatment area to ensure that patients are comfortable throughout the treatment
  • A customizable treatment that can be fine-tuned to meet the patient’s unique needs

Who is an ideal candidate for ProFractional?

Ideal candidates for ProFractional laser therapy by Sciton are struggling with forms of skin damage such as scars, sun spots, brown spots, fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss. ProFractional laser treatments are not considered suitable for individuals with darker skin tones, as there is a risk for hypopigmentation.

What does the procedure entail?

As with any cosmetic procedure, patients will come in for a private consultation prior to undergoing a ProFractional laser treatment. During this meeting, patients will have an opportunity to ask any questions they may have regarding the treatment and mention their desired outcomes. Dr. Paul will conduct a thorough assessment of the patient’s condition as well as review their medical history. Once all of this information has been gathered, he will curate a treatment plan for the patient that will best suit their needs.

The treatment usually takes somewhere between 30 and 60 minutes to complete. Before administering the laser treatment, a topical anesthetic is applied to the targeted area to ensure that the patient is comfortable throughout the procedure. The lasers work by destroying problem areas below the skin’s surface while simultaneously stimulating new collagen production. This allows the skin to renew itself and become more resilient than ever.

Patients typically require 1 to 4 treatments to achieve their desired results.

What is the recovery process like?

Most ProFractional laser treatments come with a relatively short recovery time of no more than 8 hours. That said, it is sometimes recommended that patients give themselves a 48-hour window before going back to work. Patients must keep their skin moisturized with paraben-free products for the first 3 days following the procedure to ensure that the skin remains soft and elastic.

After 24 hours, it is common for the skin to feel a bit swollen or itchy. These effects usually fade away within 3 to 5 days. Patients can start applying makeup again after a period of 24 hours but must avoid sun exposure for at least 4 weeks. The results of a ProFractional laser treatment typically last anywhere from 6 to 12 months.
